Dylan Raiola Named as Starting Quarterback – Looking At The Road Ahead

It’s official, Dylan Raiola has been named the starting quarterback for Nebraska in 2024. On Wednesday, Nebraska head coach, Matt Rhule announced Raiola as our starter. This shouldn’t come as a shock to husker fans because many people saw this coming. As a fan it feels great to now know which QB will be leading the team come August 31st when we play UTEP.

Although Raiola is coming in as a true freshman, fans have already set extremely high expectations for him. It’s great to have expectations, but I think that fans need to remember that he is just a freshman and will probably play like one at times. The most important thing is that he takes care of the ball and does not commit many turnovers. Of course there will be some, but I don’t expect him to commit a ton. Turnovers have been a problem for Nebraska in the past, but I’m hoping Raiola can minimize them. With Rhule’s guidance this is very possible. If he follows rules guidance and keeps those turnovers to a minimum, Raiola should have a pretty good season. Since he is a freshman, I don’t want to set my expectations too high because I think he will need time to grow and develop but he definitely gives us fans something to be excited about.

Raiola is clearly very talented and has many skills which could make this a successful season for the Huskers. His ability to stay healthy, make smart decisions, and maintain good ball security will be crucial to the team and will help us have a positive season. I believe we will have anywhere between six and nine wins and finally make it back to a bowl game.
I don’t know about you guys, but I am excited to see him play.
