Nebraska Gets Shutout in Tuesday Night Game Against Kansas

Nebraska hosted the Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday night for their second matchup of the season. It was not a good game for our Huskers. We struggled offensively and defensively, ultimately getting shutout. Let’s look at what went wrong.

The game started out rough for us and unfortunately continued to be this way all night. The Jayhawks scored the only runs of the night, starting with two in the top of the second. They added one in the top of the seventh and one in the top of the ninth, winning 4-0.

This was an all-around bad game for us. Offensively, we were able to get a few hits but were unable to capitalize when we had opportunities. We had a few mistakes when it came to base running and left some base runners in scoring position. Nebraska had some opportunities to drive in runs but failed to do so. As for the defense and pitchers, we were able to limit the Jayhawks’ powerful offense to only eight hits. However, they plated four runs, and we were unable to overcome this deficit. The Huskers have some things we will need to clean up before our next series. Up next we travel to Maryland for a three-game series. Game one will be held Friday night with first pitch at 5 PM.
