We finally did it! Nebraska finally beat Colorado in a dominant fashion winning 28 to 10! It was an electric atmosphere with fans from both sides excited to see how this rivalry would play out. Being a night game under the lights, Nebraska was on a huge stage with the entire world watching. With the Huskers losing the last three matchups against the Buffaloes, two ending in heartbreak, and the last being a blowout it was finally time for Nebraska to get over the hump. Let’s take a look at how the game played out.
The game started out good for Nebraska right away. That Buffaloes received the opening kickoff and went three and out. Nebraska capitalized with their first opportunity on offense with a 12 yard touchdown run by running back Dante Dowdell. It only got better from there for Nebraska, stopping Colorado, then pinning them deep in their own territory at the 2 yard line. Tommi Hill intercepted a pass thrown by quarterback Shedeur Sanders. This pick six got the defense rolling, and there was no looking back from there.
At halftime, Nebraska lead 28 to 0. The second half was a little rough for the Huskers, not putting up any more points on the scoreboard. Colorado managed to get a field goal and one touchdown. Our offense became very stagnant and there were a ton of penalties in the second half. Although our lack of points and significant amount of penalties at this point in the game did not look good, we still managed to be dominant and hold the Buffaloes from taking advantage of our mistakes and catching up to us.
Our defense was really the story of this game. They totaled five sacks and one pick six. The Huskers also did a great job at stopping the Buffaloes on fourth down. Our special teams unit also looked great. They managed to block a field goal, which was impressive. Although our offense had some struggles at some point in the game, they still did well. Raiola threw for 185 yards and one touchdown. Dowdell also had a great game, rushing for 74 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, our team looked well-prepared. The last time we beat Colorado was so long ago, so this victory felt great. I think most people expected the score to be a lot closer – myself included. It was refreshing to see Nebraska win in such a big way.
