Nebraska won the first ever Crown Tournament Championship after defeating UCF Sunday afternoon. It was an up-and-down game for our Huskers with the momentum shifting back-and-forth throughout the game. However, we were able to shift it in our favor and send our seniors out on a high note ultimately winning. 77-66.
The first half started out good for us with us being up by as much as 12 with 10 minutes left in the first half. We came out hot on both sides of the ball leading for much of the first half. However, we then allowed UCF to go on a few small runs tying up the game 35 a piece at halftime.
The second half started out about as bad as it could for Nebraska with UCF going on a 9-0 run. We went on a six-minute scoring drought not getting our first points of the half until there was about 14 minutes left. At one point, we were down by 14. Fortunately for us, we were able to shift the momentum back in our favor. The Huskers went on several big runs near the end of the game. This included a 21-3 run with about eight minutes left in the game. Nebraska never looked back from there, ultimately getting the victory.
This was an impressive comeback from our Huskers. Both our offense and defense were outstanding in the last 10 minutes of the game. We showed a lot of fight and toughness to come back and win this game. I was especially proud of the effort and poise that we showed throughout the game. At times, it didn’t look good for us, but we fought through it and never gave up. It was also great to end the season on such a high note and send our seniors out as Crown champions. One player that really stood out to me today was senior guard Brice Williams. Although he was only here for two years, he had a fantastic Husker career. He broke a few records this season, including most points scored in a single game and most points scored in a single season. Williams, along with the rest of our seniors, had a great tournament and ending to their Husker career. To top it all off, the Huskers took home $300,000! It was a great end to the 2025 season, and I don’t know about you guys but I’m looking forward to seeing what we do next season!
