It was a difficult night for our Huskers as we were unable to get anything going. Penn State took an early lead, and we were never really able to get back in it. With mini turnovers and miscues our Huskers had a difficult night ultimately losing 89 to 72.
The game started out rough for our Huskers, with Penn State going on a 14 -2 run. From there, it only became more challenging as we struggled to defend them and put up points of our own. By halftime, we we’re down 50 to 27.
The second half didn’t go much better than the first. We were able to put up some more points on the board, but Penn State responded with points of their own. It seemed as if every time we scored, they responded by making a basket. The Huskers were unable to consistently defend them, which made it difficult to catch up. Unfortunately, we were never able to get back in it which ultimately caused us this loss.
This was a very disheartening performance to watch. It was a bad loss considering Penn State is ranked last in the Big Ten, losing their last seven games. We had 16 total turnovers with 11 of them coming in the first half. This is a major concern that we will need to clean up fast with only four games remaining on our schedule before the Big Ten tournament. Our defensive effort also needs to improve considering we have a strong Michigan team coming into town to take on our Huskers. Up next, we return home to face the Michigan Wolverines.
