Nebraska has done it again!
For the second game in a row, we beat a ranked opponent. This time it was 16th ranked Oregon in Oregon. The game was close near the end, but we were able to hold them off, winning 77 to 71.
The Huskers got out to a fast start in this game, quickly responding to a Ducks dunk with a 12-2 run. We did a wonderful job responding when they scored. This included being up by 15 points at one point in the first half. However, Oregon was able to cut into this lead after scoring 11 before halftime. Although we allowed them to get close, we never took our foot off the pedal. This included making seven free throws in the last 50 seconds of the game. The Ducks cut the deficit to four with about a minute left but our successful free-throw shots helped us secure the victory.
Overall, I was impressed with the effort and poise that I saw in this game. In recent games, there were many times we crumbled when it got close. However, this time we rose to the occasion and did what it took to win. Although we struggled to make three pointers, we made quite a few free-throw shots. Nebraska made 21-29 total free throws. The consistency was awesome to see and was much needed to help us get this win. We have now beat four ranked opponents this season which we have not done in a long time. I’m excited to watch us improve and see where we go from here. Next up, we travel to Washington to take on the Huskies Wednesday night.
